Amanda Coling Speaks Up! Interview Excerpts and Videos

Here is the excerpts of Amanda Coling's interview with Pia Guiano last Sunday on Showbiz Central.

Amanda is allegedly the rape victim of Philippine Azkals' members Neil Etheridge (goalkeeper), Simon Greatwich (midfielder), Anton del Rosario (defender), and Jason Sabio (defender).

Pia Guiano: Mga tiga-Showbiz Central kasama na po natin, the woman in question - Amanda Coling. Hi Amanda!

Amanda Coling: Hi Pia!

PG: First of all, this is a very high profile issue, so, since your name has been dragged into this Amanda, we would like to get to know you a little bit better. Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you study...what did you take up...ano bang trabaho mo...ano bang pinagkakaabalahan mo sa ngayon?

AC: My name is Amanda Coling. I went to UP Diliman in college. I took up B.S. Applied Physics. Hindi mayaman yung family ko. So I was under Department of Science and Technology scholarship program and I used to work for a bank. But right now ito yung bread and butter ko, yung modeling.

PG: Ito talaga yung gusto mong i-pursue, yung pagmo-modelo...gusto mo bang maging artista?

AC: I'm in modeling, di ba. So, its showbiz di ba? So, I think it would be hypocrisy if I said I didn't want to be artista. I've always wanted to be artista even as a kid but I never wished or dreamed na it's gonna be like this na people know me because of such controversy. I didn't start the issue.

If it wasn't your own desire.

AC: I know...ba't ako nadawit dyan. But because it's something super sensitive, natatakot akong magsalita kase ayokong magsinungaling pero ayoko ding makasakit ng sinuman.

PG: So bakit ka nagdesisyung magsalita? Lumantad sa publiko?

AC: Actually, even mga first week palang ng June may kumokontak na sa akin na writer. Na gusto kong interview-hin tungkol dyan. So ayoko talaga. No comment, no comment. Wala akong lawyer dati. So, ayoko talaga. I didn't talk to him. And then, after more than a month lumabas na yung mga issue. I first found out about being dawit dito sa issue nung tinatawagan na ako ng media nung I think Monday yata yun or Sunday. So, sabi ko hala bakit ganun? So, as soon as possible kumuha na ako ng lawyer in the wee hours of Tuesday or Monday tumawag na ako ng lawyer na friend ko. 'Di ko sya binabayaran. Si Atty. Paul Sangalang na I'm super thankful for.

PG: So, nagdesisyun kang magsalita because...after whole month of telling yourself "'Di ako magsasalita, I'll just keep quiet" ano yung finally nag-udyok sayo?

AC: I even told my lawyer na "ayoko talagang magsalita. I've moved on from everything. I'm living my life..."

PG: Anong nagbago?

AC: Biglang one time, on Thursday..yung isang event ng men's magazine na I was supposed to be part of because nag-e-endorse ako ng contraceptives eh...nagmo-model ako for this contraceptives brand...bigla nalang pinull-out ako the day before. So, inisip ko I felt harassed. Nagpunta pa din ako dun on the day. Tapos i insisted na pinaghirapan ko 'to, nagde-dedicate ako ng time. Ang dami kong project abroad na ti-nurn down for this tapos kinausap ako nung mga coordinators dun na talaga daw kailangan ako i-pull out. And ilang daan yung babae dun ako lang yung kaisa-isang na-pull out.

PG: Dahil sa naging negatibong pangyayari diumano with the Azkals, marami na ding negatibong nangyari sayong buhay. Isa na yung sinabi mo sa amin na na pull-out ka sa isang show which is your bread and butter na pinagkukuhanan mo ng income for yourself. But how else did it affected you since naglabasan na sa mga pahayagan ang pangalan mo..in a not very positive light...anong naging epekto nito sa buhay mo?

AC: Ako, I grew up without a Dad, so sanay akong protektahan yung sarili ko. Sanay akong alagaan yung sarili ko. I'm a strong person and very resilient ako. I had one sobrang close friend tell me na "toto ba ito?" kse kong totoo to he's gonna kill himself. So how do you deal with that? So I just dealt with him sa kung panong paraan ko kaya. And then yung nanay ko, kse di kame mayaman so yung nanay ko natatakot "na o ano ba yan? ano bang nangyayari?" Naha-harass ako out of my job. Nilalait ako sa facebook, kung ano ano. Ako naman, I believe in karma so...

PG: Amanda, we're going to have to ask you this. Of course, napakasikat ng mga Azkals ngayon. Any woman can just come forward and say na, and try to sell the same story. Pero, ikaw ba, ano ba talaga ang naging ugnayan mo with these guys? How close were you to them?

AC: Ahmm, si Neil and Simon I met them in 2009 pa.

PG: And can you consider them your friends? Are you close?

AC: Si Simon we used to send each other messages. He used to ask me to meet with them sa gimikan.

His name is Paul Weiler. And in it, sabi ni Paul, meron daw isang babaeng nasangkot sa isang act of sex violence. Ikaw ba ang babaeng ito?

AC: Na-consult ko na sa lawyer itong matter na to at sabi nya pag yun yung tanong wag daw...kse its so sensitive eh. Ayokong magsinungaling, ayoko ding makasakit.

But hopefully peace nalang talaga for everyone na involved. Sana everyone can just walked-away from it peacefully.

PG: Ano sa tingin mo ang magiging positive results sa paglalantad mo sa publiko about this?

AC: Positive results?

PG: Kase by coming out and telling your story, maraming fans ng Azkals ang magagalit sayo...ahmm...maybe even the whole country because right now they're putting their support on the football team so they can win. But for you what is the benefit?

AC: Ako high regards with the team bilang nagbibigay ng karangalan sa bansa natin. Ako kaya lang ako nag come out to talk about the issue directly.

PG: Ano masasabi mo about people who think you're just doing this just to get famous?

I only came out dahil nga gusto kong ma-voice out. Ano, porket di ako kilala, di ko pwedeng i-voice out na na-harass ako out of my job and that job is my bread and butter. Yun ang nagpapakain sa pamilya ko.

PG: Nakapag-usap na ba kayo ng ilang miyembro ng Azkals na ito since the incident happened or since the time that you got harassed?

AC: No.

PG: Did you try to contact them after...

AC: No. Basta di ko pa sila nakakausap since last month ago. I last saw them one month ago. And di ko pa sila ulit nakausap or nakita since more that one month ago.

PG: Ano nalang Amanda ang mensahe mo since once upon a time these guys were your friends?

AC: Ahm, still i have high regards for the team Azkals. Sana manalo kayo against Kuwait. And sana bring more glory to the country.
